SMARTNODES

SMARTNODES

The main objective of the SMARTNODES project is to design an intelligent control model for distribution systems based on the use of Intelligent Distribution Nodes (IDN). These IDNs have the capability to connect the system lines in an active way to regulate the power flow and to deliver energy reserves that provide the system with an increased flexibility and improving its dynamic performance. The operation of this active distribution system is based on smart control algorithms that will allow to process in an adequate way the high heterogeneity and uncertainty of the systems. The accomplishment of the project objectives will contribute to: 1) increase the distribution grid flexibility, reduce energy losses and operation costs in the distribution grid and increase the introduction of renewable energy, reduce the cost of energy, improve the stability and reliability of the distribution grid and improve the power quality of the distribution grid.
