Proyecto Europeo SUDOKET

Loyola Institute of Science and Technology leads the European SUDOKET project to promote «Innovative Buildings»

In Europe today, buildings are responsible for 40% of primary energy demand, 60% of electricity demand, 40% of CO2 emissions, 50% of raw materials consumed, 30% of waste generated (136 million tonnes/year) and 20% of drinking water consumption.

SUDOKET, a project financed by the European programme Interreg Sudoe and led by the Institute of Science and Technology of Loyola University -LoyolaTech-, aims to change this scenario and promote the growth and technological leadership of Europe in the sector of “Innovative Buildings” (EI), which are sustainable, intelligent, efficient and environmentally friendly buildings. To this end, SUDOKET promotes research, innovation and the development of solutions based on Key Enable Technologies (KETs) for the construction, power and operation of these Innovative Buildings.

As part of SUDOKET, LoyolaTech organised the “Conference on Research and Application of Key Enabling Technologies for Innovative Buildings (CRAKETIB)”, which was held at the headquarters of the National Laboratory of Energy and Geology (LNEG) in Lisbon. This event, which has been accompanied by an industrial workshop and several technological seminars aimed at researchers, has allowed to review the development of KETs and discuss the challenges and barriers to their integration in Innovative Buildings.

In the different sessions, the working groups from Portugal, France and Spain have shown the 4 pilot plants that are built in the project. These pilot plants are dedicated to showing the behaviour and performance of the latest generation KETs applied to solar thermal and photovoltaic generation, thermal and electrochemical energy storage, new materials and construction systems, and intelligent building operation and control systems.

The event also presented the tools developed in SUDOKET for the dissemination of knowledge about KETs and the generation of synergies between the actors that make up the value chains of Innovative Buildings.

SUDOKET project

SUDOKET project has an ERDF budget of 1,551,988.47 €.. In addition to Loyola, 12 partners from France, Portugal and Spain participate in the SUDOKET project: Cartif Foundation, CIRCE Foundation, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Tecnalia Research & Innovation, Fundación Corporación Tecnológica de Andalucía (CTA), NOBATEK, Laboratório Nacional de Energia e Geologia, IP (LNEG), CentroHabitat, Universidade Nova de Lisboa (FCT NOVA), Institut Polytechnique de Bordeaux (Bordeaux INP), Pôle CREAHd (CREAHD) and the University of Aveiro (UAVR).

The Project will have a duration of 3 years (01/04/2018 - 31/03/2021).

SUDOKET project has been co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the INTERREG SUDOE programme (SOE2/PI/EO677).
