Abstract Nowadays, the need of providing new functionalities for power conversion systems, associated to microgrids and distributed generation, with a high degree of validation and narrow time to market periods, Model-Based Design (MBD) design with automatic code generation, Digital Real Time Simulation (DRTS) platforms and hybrid solutions have arouse as a necessary design tool. However, at the present time, the results obtained are not always accepted in all forums. The aim of this paper is to carry out an analysis of the same implementation carried out in simulated and experimental workbenches using different platforms. In this work a structure of rapid control prototyping (RCP) that consists on code generation by means of simulation platform, verification using DRTS, implementation and final evaluation results based on real systems has been considered. The study case considered in this work is the control of a 10kW grid connected VSI. © 2020 IEEE.
