The Royal Academy of History conserves among its funds a map of the Nuevas Poblaciones de Sierra Morena prepared, in 1782, by Rodolfo de Leon Sarmiento. In the present day there is no information about the reason for its preparation or its author, hence in this article we offer an approximation to his biography and the reasons for which this map was developed.
