Dr. Ramón Moreno Luna earned his Degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Seville in 2000 and completed his residency in Otorhinolaryngology at Virgen del Rocío University Hospital in 2006, receiving a final rating of Excellent . He currently works as a consultant ENT specialist at Virgen Macarena University Hospital in Seville, where he has been a core member of the Rhinology and Skull Base Surgery Unit since 2015. His clinical work is based on close multidisciplinary collaboration with Allergology, Pediatrics, Neurosurgery, Maxillofacial Surgery, and Endocrine Surgery. In 2010, he obtained his PhD in Medicine from the University of Seville with Summa Cum Laude distinction and received the Best Doctoral Thesis of the Year Award from the College of Physicians of Seville. He is accredited by ANECA as Profesor Contratado Doctor and Profesor de Universidad Privada (File No. 2023/10305), and has been certified as an Expert by the Andalusian Agency for Healthcare Quality (ACSA) since 2010, with reaccreditation in 2018. Dr. Moreno Luna is President-Elect of the European Rhinologic Society (ERS) and has served as Spanish Delegate to the ERS Advisory Board since 2021. He is also an active member of the Spanish Society of Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery (SEORL-CCC) , serving on its Rhinology Commission, and of the Spanish Skull Base Society (SEBAC) . Academically, he is Co-Director, Coordinator, and Faculty Member of the Master’s Degree in Advanced Rhinology and Anterior Skull Base Surgery at the International University of Andalusia (UNIA), an international programme now in its fourth edition, which has trained over 200 specialists from more than 20 countries. Delivered in Spanish and English, it has become an international reference in rhinology education. He also lectures at Loyola University Seville and has served as senior faculty in major training programmes, including the Endoscopic Sinus Surgery Course and the 3D Surgical Planning and OsiriX Imaging Course , as well as international masterclasses on septal perforation repair and frontal sinus surgery . As Principal Investigator , he has led several competitive projects funded by the Andalusian Regional Ministry of Health and a national COVID-19 biomarker project (CRUE-CSIC-Santander 2021), securing more than €150,000 in funding. His research focuses on translational medicine, regenerative surgery, and digital innovation, with particular interest in hypoxia, inflammation, and biomarkers in chronic rhinosinusitis. Since 2015, he has also served as Principal Investigator in Phase II–IV clinical trials involving biologic therapies such as omalizumab, mepolizumab, dupilumab, and tezepelumab , facilitating early access to innovative treatments within the Andalusian public healthcare system. He has led teaching innovation projects at UNIA, including the development of a digital surgical portfolio for postgraduate training. He has supervised Cum Laude doctoral theses , including those of E. Molina Fernández (2021) and D. Martín Jiménez (2024) , the latter contributing pioneering evidence in endonasal mucoplasty and regenerative endoscopic surgery . He currently supervises additional PhD candidates. Dr. Moreno Luna is the author or co-author of more than 60 scientific publications , including over 20 papers in Q1–Q2 journals , 12 book chapters , and more than 50 conference presentations , and has received two scientific awards . His work has been published in leading journals such as Rhinology , International Forum of Allergy & Rhinology , Current Allergy and Asthma Reports , Laryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology , Head & Neck , Acta ORL Española , Journal of Clinical Medicine , and European Journal of Surgical Oncology . He is first author of key publications introducing the LOEM surgical classification and advancing mucoplasty techniques , now recognised as important contributions in endoscopic sinus surgery. His recent work also explores phenotypic and immunological profiling in emerging CRSwNP phenotypes, particularly Central Compartment Atopic Disease (CCAD) . According to Google Scholar , he has 602 citations ( 525 since 2021 ), an h-index of 14 ( 13 since 2021 ), and an i10-index of 17 ( 14 since 2021 ). According to Scopus , he has 440 citations and an h-index of 12 .
