Tatiana Avignone holds a PhD in Inclusive and Sustainable Development, awarded with the highest distinction of “Sobresaliente Cum Laude” and a Master’s degree in Social Work and Social Policies. She is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Law and Criminology at Universidad Loyola Andalucía. She has participated in projects focused on assessing the risk of social exclusion among unaccompanied migrant children, as well as in the development of a digital risk-assessment tool to be used by protection centers in Andalusia, Spain. She is a member of the Migration Research Group at Universidad Loyola Andalucía. Her doctoral research focuses on applying a gender and human rights perspective in the care of unaccompanied migrant children and adolescents. She is particularly committed to challenging social exclusion practices and policies that affect migrants. Her previous research experience has been in the field of juvenile justice, specifically comparing the juvenile justice systems of Italy and Spain, with particular focus on probation measures for juvenile offenders. As part of her academic training, she was the recipient of an international scholarship from LA SAPIENZA University , as well as a Leonardo Da Vinci scholarship funded by European programs. These studies and experiences enabled her to attend and participate in international events and undertake visiting periods abroad aimed at exchanging good practices in working with minors at risk of social exclusion.
