Abstract This article presents the process of construction, design and validation that was used in the questionnaire "Effective practices of the educational leadership in school management". This questionnaire was used in an doctoral thesis; the study focuses on the educational leadership in public schools in early years and primary education in Andalusia. The instrument is composed by 83 items rating scale organised in five blocks of content. It allows to gather the views from different school actors (principals, assistant principals and teachers) about effective pedagogical practices that the management team develops in their schools. The questionnaire\'s validity and reliability is backed by expert judgement and the use of Cronbach\'s alpha as a coefficient internal consistency. The study sample consist of 862 education professionals (instructional and administration staff) from 207 schools in Andalusia. The results of the research have yielded validity and reliability. As consequence, the instrument used is suitable to measure successful practices of educational leadership and school management.
