The patriarchal stories of Joseph and Jacob show us two different ways of restoring a broken fraternal relationship, depending on whether the initiative for reconciliation comes from the innocent or from the culprit. This article seeks to offer some clues that are present in both biblical accounts and that are capable of enlightening the believer’s challenge of promote the reconciliation and to restore fraternity.; Los relatos patriarcales que tienen a José y a Jacob como protagonistas nos muestran dos modos diversos de restaurar una relación fraterna rota, bien cuando la iniciativa en la reconciliación procede de la parte inocente o bien cuando surge del culpable. El artículo pretende ofrecer algunas claves presentes en ambas narraciones bíblicas que son capaces de iluminar el reto creyente de promover la reconciliación y recuperar la fraternidad.
