Abstract

The information in the press may reflect an ideological bias depending on the medium that publishes it. Therefore, the objective of this work is to detect and to analyse the ideological bias in the journalistic discourse of the Spanish press. To do this, the work focuses on the Spanish constitutional reform of 2011, which amended the article 135 of the Spanish Constitution to establish “absolute priority” in the payment of public debt. This reform came fully into force in 2020. To carry out the analysis of the ideological bias, an approach based on corpus linguistics and frame semantics was used. The results show that there is an ideological bias in the informative treatment depending on the medium. This bias does not always coincide with the political trend socially associated with that medium. © 2022 Universidad Compultense Madrid. All rights reserved.
