Abstract

The instructions of the first Provincial of Paraguay, Diego de Torres Bollo, for the first two reductions of Paraguay, in 1609 and 1610, are an internal normative instrument of the Society of Jesus for the development of the mission addressed to the Jesuits sent there. These instructions have an enormous historical value for what they show about the role that the reductions wanted to play in this initial colonial context of Paraguay as an experience that can represent in a paradigmatic way the Jesuit tradition in a historical praxis. © 2023 Instituto Teologico de Caceres, Universidad de Extremadura.
