Abstract

A grid-forming power converter based on the syn-chronous power controller (SPC) is a solution that through the flexible and adaptive emulation of the main functional blocks of a synchronous machine, allows to take advantage of its benefits while avoiding or minimizing its weaknesses. In thispaper a small signal stability analysis of a grid-forming power converter based on SPC is performed. The analysis includes obtaining a representation of the system's state space, calculating its eigenvalues and analysing the sensitivity to variation of some relevant parameters. Some simulations and experimental tests have also been carried out to validate the theoretical analysis. © 2020 IEEE.
