Abstract

This study aims to provide Spanish-speaking children with an assessment tool to measure their awareness of eating habits. The specific objective of this work is to adapt and validate the MEQ-C questionnaire, referred to as CACE-M in its Spanish version. Following the translation process, it was administered to a sample of 227 minors. To provide evidence of its validity, a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was conducted, along with an analysis of item properties and their relationship with other variables. The CFA demonstrated satisfactory fit indices for a two-factor structure. The item homogeneity and the reliability of the scores for both factors were adequate. Moreover, significant relationships were found for both factors with the other variables. In conclusion, the CACE-M is presented as a valid, brief, and easy-to-use instrument capable of measuring mindful eating in the child population.
