Pablo Brañas Garza has been Full Professor of Behavioral Economics at Loyola University Andalusia since March 2019. Previously, he was Professor of Behavioral Economics at Middlesex University London (2012–2018) and Full Professor of the Foundations of Economic Analysis at the University of Granada (2009–2012). Since 2011, he has also been an Associate Researcher at the Economic Science Institute at Chapman University (USA). His main research fields are Experimental and Behavioral Economics. His work focuses on altruism, social networks, patience, uncertainty, and cognitive skills. In recent years, his research has moved beyond the laboratory to include extensive fieldwork. He has conducted field research for institutions such as the World Bank, La Caixa, the COTEC Foundation, Save the Children, the Government of Peru, and the Mayor of London, with projects carried out in Honduras, Nigeria, Spain, England, and Peru. He served as President of the Society for the Advancement of Behavioral Economics (2016–2018), has been an Associate Editor at PLoS ONE and the Journal of Experimental and Behavioral Economics, and is a member of the ESRC College. He is currently the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Experimental and Behavioral Economics. He has published in leading journals including PNAS, Nature Human Behavior, Proceedings of the Royal Society B, International Economic Review, European Economic Review, Games & Economic Behavior, Evolution & Human Behavior, Perspectives of Psychological Science, Biology Letters, Journal of Conflict Resolution, Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization, Journal of Behavioral Decision Making, Experimental Economics, Journal of Money, Credit & Banking, and Scientific Reports. In 2011, he published Experimental and Behavioral Economics (Barcelona: A. Bosch); in 2015, Experimental Economics I & II (London: Palgrave); in 2023, Imperfect Perception and Stochastic Choice in Experiments (Cambridge: Cambridge University Press); and in 2024, Experimental Methods in Economics (Madrid: Fundación Ramón Areces). His teaching experience includes appointments at Loyola University Andalusia and the universities of Granada, the Basque Country, Pablo de Olavide, and Middlesex University London.
