Abstract

This paper deals with the maximal abelian dimension of a given Lie algebra. In fact, its main goal is to compute this dimension for solvable non-decomposable Lie algebras of dimension less than 7, by applying an algorithmic method which goes ruling out non-valid maximal abelian dimensions until obtaining its exact value. To do such computations, we have used Mubarakzyanov and Turkowsky's classical classifications of solvable Lie algebras and we have explicitly computed the maximal abelian dimension for most of algebras in those classifications.
