Abstract |
The aim of this paper is to clarify the suarezian conception of Metaphysics, focusing on the way how, due to its internal imbrication and systematicity, it developed a new path known as transcendental ontology. Despite the latest criticisms, in the suarezian ontology God still embodies the key figure and central notion of the whole system, lying here the so-called modernity of his thought. Secondly, we study the notion of obediential potency, trying to show Suárez\'s baroque character and to remark that his metaphysics gives philosophical ground to the theses he defended during the controversies of the sixteenth century on the free will. © 2022 Universidad Pontificia Comillas de Madrid.
