This study investigates the influence of teachers' burnout on students' behavioural engagement in Physical Education and its interaction with students' satisfaction of psychological needs (autonomy, competence, and relatedness). Data were collected from 28 teachers and 624 students. The results showed that students' satisfaction of autonomy (ß = 0.21), competence (ß = 0.34), and relatedness (ß = 0.08) were positively associated with behavioural engagement. Teachers' burnout was negatively related to students' engagement (ß = -0.19). However, burnout did not significantly moderate the relationship between students' needs satisfaction and engagement. These findings suggest that teachers' well-being plays a crucial role in shaping students' engagement in Physical Education. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
