The involvement of employees with their specific jobs is an attitudinal variable that acquires strategic character in 21st-century organizations. The objective of this research is to establish a prediction model for the emotional involvement level of European employees in the workplace, according to certain personal, working, attitudinal and well-being variables. To achieve this purpose, the proposed methodology is, on the one hand, a traditional econometric model including binary logistic regression, and on the other hand, a complementary alternative: the artificial neural network trained through two mathematical algorithms, multilayer perception and the extreme learning machine. The results identify the determining factors for emotional involvement, showing a slightly superior efficiency for the artificial neural systems. The research concludes that, given the current global crisis situation, any managerial practice focused on facilitating involvement of the individual in his/her immediate working environment is a critical element for obtaining sustainable, long-term organizational results and consequently, for ensuring the survival of companies. |
