Abstract |
This research analyzes the results obtained during the first phase of implementation (Nicaragua 2011-2014), of Proyecto Nica, the non-formal media and audiovisual literacy action, in which young people without resources and people at risk of social exclusion participated. The main goal of this training, as well as the rest of the actions related to this initiative-which has been implemented in other social contexts and countries-, was the acquisition by the participants of professional knowledge in audiovisual technologies, which help them to find a better employment in a precarious socio-labour context and, in addition, contributing to the awareness of collective problems. The results presented in this study, obtained through several analysis tools, confirm that media and audiovisual literacy aimed at communities without resources can be an effective tool to empower, to avoid social exclusion, and to promote social change. © 2017, Universidad del Zulia.
