Abstract On 7 October 2023 Ham & aacute;s carried out the biggest attack Israel has ever suffered in its history. Hezbollah and the Iranian regime were co-conspirators, and it may have been carried out because Ham & aacute;s had become an actor with sufficient capabilities to shatter the stability that the Abraham Accords had brought to the area. This article examines Ham & aacute;s\'s ideological evolution, Israel\'s response to the attack and the ends it sought to achieve, and analyses the effects that are still ongoing. The text is the result of several research sojourns and uses documentary sources and interviews with members of armed groups and intelligence agents to strengthen the analysis.
