Abstract The New Settlements of Sierra Morena and Andalusia constituted one of the state initiatives of greater relevance in the agrarian sector during the reign of Carlos III. However, the way in which the propaganda of Bourbon politics was embodied in them has received little attention among researchers. This research aims to analyze the way in which real power was visualized in these new colonies, using two elements of significant importance: toponymy and heraldry. © 2019 Universidad de Valladolid.
