I am a sociologist who specializes in gender, migration, identity, and culture. I teach undergraduate courses in Cultural Anthropology and Migration as well as graduate seminar in Gender and HHRR. In my dissertation I studied the ways in which Latin American mothers in the United States manage the cultural and social tensions of being mothers in a foreign country and, therefore, afar from the values and practices they learned as daughters. I do apply visual research in the study of migration and have investigated and published in the topic of reflexivity and critical studies.   I am PI in two funded projects based inHonduras: Transnational families and the psychosocial well-being of children and their caretakers; Climate change and migration. I am also a member of the editorial board of the journal “Visual Studies and a member of theInternational Visual sociology Association. Originally from Catalonia I have lived for over 18years outside of Spain and have experienced migration in different countries and at different levels (as a “dependent spouse, an informal worker, a student, a professor, a first-time mother…).
