Abstract Founded in 2012 as an association and later transformed into a research group, one of the primary objectives of the Research League in Communication and Culture: Genre(s), Narrative, Ideology, and Visual Studies (SEJ694) has been, since its inception, the dissemination of research in the field of mass culture, particularly regarding television fiction, with a focus on the social and academic impact of television series during the so-called "third golden age" of television. Thus, the activities developed by the group are linked to the concept of media literacy and align with the spirit of cultural studies, providing tools through critical thinking to help members of society learn to decode the messages they receive through screens. Using the Action Research methodology, a review of the activities carried out by the association both inside and outside the classroom is presented, including lectures and workshops in civic centers, festivals, and bars. Additionally, the impact of popular publications on television series and their reach in the media is assessed. Given the stages of the implemented methodological approach (diagnosis, planning, action, observation, and reflection) and the importance of evaluating the developed activity, it can be concluded that the Research League in Communication and Culture (LIGAINCOM henceforth)\'s contributions to research and dissemination on television fiction help advance a critical perspective within society.
