Dr. Millán’s research experience includes the participation in 15 National R&D projects and 1 European project of the Seventh Framework Program (FP7). Among them, he has been Principal Investigator of the R&D national projects AQUATRONC and ECOPORT, devoted to the control of autonomous fleets of marine vehicles; the regional project IRRIGATE, funded by the 2019 Andalusian R&D Call; the project CELEGAND, funded by Junta de Andalucía in the call “Grupos Operativos” 2021; and the project REACTIVANDO LA ECONOMÍA CAMPESINA FAMILIAR ORGÁNICA EN PARAGUAY MEDIANTE UNA RED DE DISPOSITIVOS INTELIGENTES BASADA EN EL INTERNET DE LAS COSAS (IOT). Dr. Millán is author or co-author of more than 60 research publications, including works published in high-impact journals on formation control and distributed estimation and control, which are directly applicable to the proposed project. He is in possession of 2 Sexenios de Investigación. He has been awarded two prizes for the best research work in national conferences. He was granted the Torres Quevedo Scholarship in 2013. Currently, according to Google Scholar, he has a h index of 19 (14 since 2018), and 1204citations (690 since 2019). He has a h index 12 according to WoS. He has been visiting researcher at KTH (Sweeden), University of Newcastle (Austrialia), Marquette University (USA) and CNRS-LAAS (France), and he is visiting professor at Universita di Pavia since 2021. He has published scientific papers in collaboration with researchers of these institutions and nowadays collaborate in research projects with CNRS-LAAS. He won the Special Recognition for Excellence in Research (Universidad Loyola Andalucía, 2017). Dr. Millán managing experience includes the coordination of the first course of the Degree in Electromechanical Engineering at Universidad Loyola Andalucía (2013), coordination of the second course (2014), and finally global coordinator of the same degree (since 2014). He has been also editor of the journal Fomento Social, devoted to multidisciplinary approaches for development. He regularly serves as reviewer of the journals Automatica, International Journal of Control, and IEEE Transactions on Control Systems Technology, among others. He was the Director of Engineering Department of Universidad Loyola Andalucía from 2015 to 2023. In 2017, he promoted and helped to design 2 research groups: Materials&Sustainability2 and ODS Research Group3. This last group, which he leads together with Dr. Luis Orihuela, has obtained more than 2 million euros for funding R&D projects in 3 research lines: Cyberphysical Systems, Autonomous Marine Vehicles and Smart Agriculture. Nowadays, the group is composed of 15 full time researchers and has hired 5 lab technicians and 6 PhD students and a posdoctoral researcher. Dr. Millán has supervised 3 doctoral theses, all of them with high-impact publications associated. His former PhD students (Álvaro Rodríguez del Nozal and Alejandro Tapia Córdoba) are nowadays Assistant Professors at the Universities of Sevilla and Loyola, respectively, while Dra. Gabriela Cáceres holds a position as a posdoc at Universidad Loyola. Currently, he is supervising other 5 PhD students and he has supervised 11 final degree projects, 3 of them of international students. Since October 2023, he is the Director of the School of Engineering of Universidad Loyola Andalucía.
